Takahiro Nemoto, MD, PhD

Takahiro Nemoto, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuropsychiatry at Toho University Faculty of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan, and Clinical Director of the Department of Neuropsychiatry at the Toho University Omori Medical Center.

He has long been working on treating mental illness as a psychiatrist and had a consistent interest in early intervention for psychiatric disorders. He established a specialized psychiatric service for seamless treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults, called iCHAYA (Integrated care for Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults). In research, he has been involved in a large number of bio-psycho-social studies in psychotic disorders including first-episode psychosis and at-risk mental state for psychosis, a current main focus of which is implementing early consultation and support services in the community-based integrated health care system. He has published about 80 peer-reviewed articles in the major international journals. He is currently Trustee of the Japanese Society for Prevention and Early Intervention in Psychiatry and Delegate of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology. He also serves as Field Editor for Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports and Associate Editor for Japanese Preventive Psychiatry.

As an IEPA board member, he tries to contribute to further development of the association as well as to international mental health promotion, especially in Asia including Japan.
