| Roos Pot-Kolder As a scientist-practitioner, I am committed to bridging the gap between scientific research and clinical practice. With a background in psychology since 2007, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I received my PhD (2021; cum laude) in virtual reality (VR) therapy for the research and treatment of psychosis. As a pioneer in the Dutch virtual reality field, I have been delivering virtual reality therapies and conducting research since 2012. I have extensive experience as a VR therapist and supervisor, particularly for social phobia, psychosis, and agoraphobia. Additionally, I have conducted two large multi-site clinical trials on VR for psychosis as part of my PhD. Currently, I am holding a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Melbourne and Orygen, leading the Virtual Reality for Social Recovery research stream in the Orygen Digital XR team since 2021. My focus is on developing virtual reality therapies in collaboration with lived experience experts and youth advisors, catering to the needs of young people in the digital age. My goal is to improve daily social functioning and prevent chronic mental health issues early in the trajectory of mental illness. As a Psychologist I deliver VR therapy at Early Intervention for Psychosis centres. By working with personalized social goals, I help young people return to school, start their first jobs, build social networks and intimate relationships, see Star Wars in a movie theatre, order coffee, set boundaries with a boyfriend, or work on any goal that helps them lead happy and fulfilling lives. |
