| Chi Cheng Dr. Chi Cheng has been a member of IEPA since 2006. She resides in Northern Ontario, Canada, approximately 16 hours’ drive from Toronto, and serves as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Adult Psychiatrist, and Physician-Researcher. Dr. Cheng has worked in early psychosis intervention since 2005 and more recently has been providing early intervention clinical services for all disorders, not limited to psychosis. She has delivered sub-specialized mental health care to disadvantaged populations across a vast geographic area in northern Canada, including Indigenous youth. Her experiences have been both rewarding and humbling, and she holds deep appreciation for the challenges faced by her clients, families, and communities. Administratively, Dr. Cheng has served as the Medical Director of several programs, including the first EPI service in northwestern Ontario, which covers a geographic area the size of France, as well as various Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Services, both inpatient and outpatient. She is an Associate Professor at Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) University in the Psychiatry Clinical Services Division. Previously, she contributed to the training of future psychiatrists at NOSM University as the Psychiatry Program Director. Her research interests lie broadly in health services and policy, particularly at the intersection of early intervention for youth mental health, evidence-based practice as it interfaces with pediatric and youth mental health policy, and models of care for vulnerable populations living in northern or remote settings. |
