International Early intervention and prevention in mental health association

Andrea Raballo

Andrea Raballo is Full Professor of Psychiatry at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and Head of Academic Training and Research at the Cantonal Sociopsychiatric Organisation (OSC) in Ticino, Switzerland. A leading voice in early intervention and preventive psychiatry, his career is defined by a commitment to reimagining mental health systems through the lens of developmental psychopathology and "Human-in-the-Loop" technology.

Systems Innovation & Early Intervention

Professor Raballo is a recognized architect of scalable clinical models. He played a pivotal role in the design and implementation of the Reggio Emilia At Risk Mental States (ReARMS) project, a benchmark program for the early detection and treatment of clinical high-risk states and first-episode psychosis. His expertise in the "unfolding" nature of mental distress was further refined during his tenure as Onsager Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and his research at the NORMENT Centre of Excellence (University of Oslo).

REMEDI Lab: Bridging Phenomenon and Data

As co-founder of the REMEDI Lab (Rethinking Mental Health through Clinical and Data Intelligence), he leads research into Explainable AI (XAI). His work focuses on translating complex clinical reasoning into computational systems that act as interpretive partners to clinicians.

International Leadership

A prominent figure in the global psychiatric community, Professor Raballo served as Chair of the Publication Committee and Board Member of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), and Co-Chair of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Section for Clinical Psychopathology. He is currently focused on building next-generation mental health tools that are precise, equitable, and deeply human.
